A PreLoved Project
Back in 2013, I was introduced to the inner workings of second-hand shops. I was able to work for three years at a local second-hand shop, I was able to educate myself on pricing, donations, and sadly clothing waste. A single person produces 100 pounds of textile waste per year (Lundberg & Devoy, 2022). If we put into perspective that of a single person think about how much waste a second-hand shop would have from unsellable textiles.
I witnessed a horrid amount of clothing waste while working with that second-hand shop, as this shop did not sell their scraps to textile recyclers they rather threw out the clothes to make room for better items. Though it has been 10 years since I have been in that environment this sparked the idea for Another's Treasure. This idea is to take salvaged clothing from second-hand shops and homes and upcycle them into trendy, and quality items. The goal is to help promote second-hand shopping and donating of well-loved clothes. I hope that even if this project only reaches a few people it can provide hope for a more sustainable future.

About Me
My name is Kennedy Nix I am currently a Senior at Spartanburg Methodist College. I have always been fascinated with the human mind and how that coincided with the world of business. This is what lead me to my choice of concentrations, business, and psychology. My home is here in the Upstate! As stated above I have previous history with a nonprofit thrift store but it does not stop there, I have continued to aid many other nonprofits in my work experience. For example, I have worked alongside nonprofits such as Carol's Hope, and Halter for many years. After I graduate I hope to continue aiding other nonprofits in their missions to brighten our futures.
