It's Me! <3

About Me

My name is Tori Rose, and I am, indeed, a stressed poet. I have always loved writing in my free time, but I never thought about the mental benefits of creative writing until I started college. To manage the ups and downs of life, I started journaling and writing poetry to relieve my tension and distract myself with things of my own invention. I learned that finding a creative medium, such as writing, is a great way to unwind, build confidence, and express your feelings.

Education

I received my Associate's degree in Liberal Arts at Spartanburg Methodist College, and I am currently working on my Bachelor's degree studying English and Religion. This site is a part of my senior Capstone project. More below!

My Goal

Life is difficult. Sometimes we're soaring through the clouds, and, other times, we're just trying our best. Creative writing is an amazing tool help us stay sane along the way. My goal is to share this tool with other stressed poets, like myself, and hopefully inspire a new generation of confident, stress-free writers as well.

Capstone

This site is part of a bigger project in collaboration with my school, Spartanburg Methodist College. Me and a group of volunteers, in collaboration with my local library, will be hosting a class using a variety of fun and contemplative prompts with teens to experience, firsthand, just how much of an effect this way of writing can have on the younger generation.

Why Teens?

Teens are stressed. It's the transition from doing art projects for class to writing papers worth half their grade and thinking about college. Many teens don't know how to manage their stress, and teens are the most vulnerable to other, more dangerous ways to elevate their tension. Introducing creative writing to students is not only a great way to improve writing and creative skills, but it also offers a great outlet for teens who need it.

My Goal

By hosting a workshop and interacting with students, I hope to enrich myself as well as my students in the art of creative writing and hopefully introduce a new medium of stress relief to students who may have never tried creative mediums to express their emotions.
