ABOUT MEND THE GAP

With an increase in fast fashion, textile waste continues to increase. Today, we buy 60% more clothes and only use them for half as long. Because of this, I want to empower students to prolong their wardrobe to encourage both sustainability and saving money. Through my workshops, students will learn essential sewing skills and mending techniques that will allow them to buy cheaper with secondhand and reduce their clothing waste by replacing less often.

ABOUT ME

I come from a long line of women who sew. From a young age, I was taught the value of these skills and have spent the last few years developing them further. I love turning old things into something new while still preserving its original character. I do this through upcycling my own clothes and buying secondhand, creating memory items for people from the clothes of loved ones they have lost, and redesigning wedding dresses for daughters to wear their mothers' dresses.

I am currently working on my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management and Entrepreneurship which I hope to use to find a career with my sewing.
