Why is The Self-Love Club targeted towards young girls?Young girls experience puberty ahead of their male counterparts. Females start menstruating around age 12, and along with that comes hormone changes, and chemical imbalances in the brain. The Self-Love Club was created to help these girls navigate their way through these bodily changes while upholding their self-esteem and self-worth.
-
Are The Self-Love Club events open to anyone? At the moment, The Self-Love Club meetings are only open to current middle school girls at League Academy in Greenville.
-
What would a normal Self-Love Club meeting look like? Each class meeting will begin with Amaya, the founder, teaching the girls about valuable life skills such as self-esteem and others and then having the girls engage in an activity to go along with the lesson. For example, for building high self-esteem, the corresponding activity would be a "Paint-Your-Life Activity where the girls will paint on a canvas how they see themselves, and how they want to see themselves.
-
Will The Self-Love Club be something permanent?Right now, The Self-Love Club is in it's beginning stages, and has not been carried out yet. However, based on the engagement from the girls once the meetings officially start will determine if The Self Love CLub should expand.
-
What do The Self-Love Club donations go towards? The funds raised will go towards purchasing materials to use during club meeting dates such as canvases and paint for a "Paint-My-Life Activity, and magazines for Collage-My-LIfe Activities. Hygiene and self-care bags will also be created to be at the disposal of the girls attending so that they have the resources they need to be successful free of charge!
-
How can I get involved? You can get involved by donating towards our GoFundMe so that classes are able to be ran smoothly. You can also get involved by visiting our Amazon wishlist to purchase and supply these girls with essentials they need to be successful.
