WHAT WE'RE ALL ABOUT
The start of this project came from my heart for sexual assault victims. There are a ton of "what to do after the incident happens" events, but not many prevention events. With my project of hosting a survivor open mic night where people can share their stories, I hope to bring more awareness and open the eyes of all that this is not normal. The name #it'snotnormal came from a conversation with a fellow survivor who said she knows so many who have been assaulted as most of us do and that should not be normal. It is not normal.

ABOUT ME
I am a senior at Spartanburg Methodist College anticipating graduating with my bachelor's of arts in psychology and criminal justice. I am from Boiling Springs SC and I am 22 years old. I have a heart for sexual assault victims, as most of all of the women I know and some men have been victims and this is not normal. I hope to bring awareness to this issue in ways that no one else does. I can hand out pamphlets with statistics and information about the issue all day long, but they usually end up tossed in a garbage bin. Having survivors tell their stories will leave an impact on the audience to help prevent and make a change. I have hopes of becoming a special victims detective so I can continue helping these men and women after I graduate.
