ABOUT US

Founded by myself, Livingston Hawkins, Survivor SMC began as an idea conjured up in my freshman year. I had been an avid fan of the TV show Survivor since I was 12 years old, and as a first generation college student I watched many YouTube videos explaining things about college life. At the intersection between these two things, I discovered Survivor Maryland. Since 2012, University of Maryland students had been playing and filming Survivor on their college campus. As of Fall 2023, they have hosted 20 seasons.

As I watched Survivor Maryland, as well as editions from other colleges, I began to dream about what Survivor would look like on my campus. I could imagine challenges being played out on Judd Lawn and late night strategy talks between players in the student center. I had plans drawn up and got them approved. The very first season of Survivor SMC was scheduled for Spring 2020. That was the semester COVID shut the world down.

Now Survivor SMC has been reworked into my senior capstone and I am extremely excited for this game to come to life after four years in the making.
